MoU Signing Ceremony With Teach For Cambodia

ISI GROUP and Teach For Cambodia, a local organization aiming to uproot educational inequity in Cambodia, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 28, 2019.

Despite the government’s efforts and achievements to reform the nationwide education system, low socio-economic status, outdated curriculum and teaching, and weak school capacity still remain a stubborn setback for the quality of education in Cambodia. To combat these problems, Teach For Cambodia has developed a Cambodian context-based approach to education. The goal is to build a new pool of highly effective teachers and leaders who will work relentlessly to expand educational opportunities for their students and show that Cambodian students are capable of achieving at a much higher level.

“It’s a crime against humanity if our next generation is weaker than us,” said Mr. Kang Leng, ISI GROUP CEO, during his speech at the signing ceremony. He went on to say, “The only way to strengthen our society at large and promote positive social change is through education, healthcare, sports, and housing.”

Historically, Cambodia has relied on international aid. However, through a mutual passion for building a sustainable future for the younger generation, ISI GROUP and Teach For Cambodia are now “beginning to tell a different narrative that this story is no longer the case,” said Mr. Siv Monirath, the founding CEO of Teach For Cambodia. Mr. Siv continued, “As a young Cambodian, this partnership is sending me a message that a Cambodian is supporting another Cambodian for a bigger cause.”

This three-year MoU is another example of how ISI GROUP is committed to giving back to the communities in which we do business. To find out more about our CSR programs, click here.
