Celebrating Sangkran at Chankiri

As the Khmer calendar flutters into the New Year, our Urbanland colleagues transformed Chankiri into a Sangkran celebration ground. This celebration acted as a space for Chankiri homeowners and people from across our ISI GROUP community to come together and celebrate Khmer traditions, art and culture.

A borey masterplan centered on human connection, Chankiri hosted a Sangkran celebration with group activities in style. Throughout the day, the Sangkran goers filled the atmosphere with laughter while playing popular Khmer games, dancing to the soundtrack of their favorite traditional songs and re-energizing with signature local food and drinks.

As a strong supporter of local talent, Urbanland ushered in local businesses and artists to showcase their skills and products at Sangkran Chankiri. The guests got to discover local gems such as Khmer Ceramics and Wish Brand, enterprises providing training and support to disadvantaged communities. The award-winning Khmer director, Kavich Neang, also joined guests for a screening of his moving documentary film, “Last Night I Saw You Smiling.”

To shape a better future and enrich lives by putting people at the heart of every space and experience they create is a mission Urbanland is turning into reality one community at a time. That is why Urbanland is developing the community focused borey and how Sangkran Chankiri was created.

“We’re building Chankiri to be a place where meaningful social interactions happen,” said Mr. Vatnakoudom Samith, Senior Marketing Manager at Urbanland. “In our current phase, we are expanding the borey to feature more public gathering areas to create a vibrant community and inspire social bonds,” he added.

As the new year approaches with new opportunities, we look forward to continuing to develop more inspirational spaces that enable meaningful activities and help improve life in our communities. We wish everyone a happy Khmer New Year holiday and great health, happiness and prosperity!
