In the final stretch of the ISI GROUP Cup 2019 finals, Fuxin United attacked the goal in rapid-fire succession, scoring to secure a 4-3 victory over KMH United on Tuesday, December 10.

It was a surprising turn of events. KMH United led by two goals until Fuxin United powered two shots midway through the first half to tie the score at 3-3. The teams then played a tight game, each trying to tilt the score back in their favor. In the second half, Fuxin United almost broke the tie by headbutting the ball toward the goalmouth. KMH United was able to push the ball out of bounds, saving them for the time being. With the ball back in play, Fuxin United quickly gained control, headbutting the ball again and making the goal.

With each team having one of the top scorers of the season, Mr. Kang Sen of Fuxin United and Mr. John Botioba of KMH United, winning the match for either team was no small feat. “Resilience to me is a key to success. On the field, there will always be lots of limits and uncertainties, but what’s important is that we learn to get pass them and bounce back in time so that we can move forward,” said Mr. Sela Por, Fuxin United Team Captain.

While the end score is a big part of the game, the journey itself is just as important. “I’m just so grateful to be a part of a team that believes in unity,” Said Mr. Leangsim Chhan, KMH United Team Captain. “Anything is possible as long as we beat with one heart,” he added, content that, despite the outcome, he and his team are still standing strong together, which is mainly what ISI GROUP Cup aims to inspire.

Bringing 11 teams from all management levels and types, this year’s ISI GROUP Cup is the biggest tournament in its history so far. With the championship growing at this speed, will Fuxin United be able to keep the crown in 2020?

Only time will tell!
